I look upon reflections
as I gaze into the pool
I see my father teaching me
things I’d never learn in school
with vigorous protection
he would guard against our harm
guiding me with gentle hands
attached to those strong arms
he waited on the demons
always faithful
till the end
If I had been a real man
I could have been his trusted friend
but the secrets of a lifetime
would keep his gaze away
so I couldn’t tell him who I am
and how I miss him here today
